Summer Reading Program 2010 - Make a Splash and READ! PDF Print E-mail
Make a Splash logoSet Sail for the Library! We are going to “Make a Splash
 & READ
”this summer at the Way Public Library. Boys and girls are
 invited to join the Summer Reading Club
 at Way Public Library.
  Read for fun!  Visit the library once each week and write down
 the books you have read in your reading log. 
At that time you will receive a small prize and a sticker
on your reading log. Collect all six stickers.  
The first prize and sticker will be issued the week
of June 14 and the final incentives the week of July 19. 
During a “make-up”week, held July 26– 30,
 for as long as quantities last, children can collect
 one of the stickers and prizes they have missed.
Preschoolers may participate by having books read to them. Children
 entering fourth and fifth grades will be eligible for weekly prize drawings.

Other activities planned are as follows:

Ride a wave of creativity with this program full of original illustrations,
 stories, poems, and fun "draw along" maritime characters!

Wear boots or old shoes and discover what lives in the wetlands.  We might
see frogs, Great Blue Herons, bugs, or water lilies.  It’s always a surprise.

Location: Meet us at the parking lot of WW Knight Preserve.

Each Monday, beginning June 7 and ending June 28, your child
 will be able to read to some very special dogs.  7-7:20 p.m. or 7:30-7:50 p.m.

Author and Illustrator of the Month
Victoria Kann


Victoria Kann is the award winning illustrator and author
 of the picture book series featuring the whimsical
 and effervescent character, Pinkalicious.
Victoria co-authored and illustrated the first two books,
 Pinkalicious and Purplicious. The Pinkalicious character
was inspired by Victoria's real life daughters
 – two girls with vibrant imaginations
who love cupcakes, dress up,
playing princess, and all things pink.
